ROSEN is looking for a Benefits Specialist that will be based in Houston, Texas or Columbus, Ohio.  This position reports directly to the Head of Human Resources, United States and will be a part of the Human Resources team.  
 
What role you will play in our team:


The Benefits Specialist oversees end to end U.S. & Canada employee benefits and pension operations and serves as the primary owner of the annual benefits and pension cycle, including renewal preparation, data analysis, and operational execution. The role ensures compliant, efficient, and employee focused delivery of all health, welfare, retirement, and leave programs while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and reliability across the benefits ecosystem.


This position functions as a subject matter expert in U.S. & Canada benefits and plays a key role in informing and leading the annual benefits and pension strategy. The specialist conducts analysis, identifies trends, and provides recommendations that contribute to plan design updates, vendor adjustments, and overall program enhancements. 


The role leads strategic benefits planning, drives operational improvements, and ensures employees receive accurate, timely, and clear benefits and retirement plan support throughout the year.

Responsibilities:

 What will I be doing?


Benefits Administration, Vendor Governance & Compliance
•    Oversee daily benefits administration in U.S and Canada, manage vendor relationships and SLAs, handle escalations and audits, and ensure full compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, PCORI, ADA, FMLA, Form 5500, and all regulatory reporting.
Policy, Process & SOP Ownership
•    Develop, update, and maintain SOPs for benefits and leave programs, identifying process gaps and ensuring documentation aligns with compliance requirements.
Leave of Absence (LOA) & ADA Case Management
•    Manage complex LOA and ADA cases end to end, coordinate the interactive process, assess accommodations, and partner with stakeholders as needed.
Process Optimization & Automation
•    Lead automation and process improvement initiatives across benefits and LOA workflows, partnering with HRIS, Payroll, and vendors to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
Benefits Research, Analysis & Plan Optimization
•    Conduct cost and claims analysis, monitor trends and benchmarks, and recommend plan design, contribution, or vendor changes to improve cost and employee value.
Employee Support, Communication & Education
•    Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for benefits and leave programs and create communications, lead open enrollment, coordinate benefit fairs, and deliver employee education sessions.

REQUIREMENTS

What are we looking for?


Education
•    Required: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field
•    Preferred: Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or similar certification 

Experience
 •    5–7+ years of benefits, pension and leave of absence experience
•    Experience managing complex LOA/ADA cases 
•    Experience with 401(k) plan operations and compliance cycles 
•    Experience working with external vendors and supporting process improvements
•    Experience administering benefits in Canada and U.S. 
•    Experience ensuring compliance with applicable Canadian and US regulations and provincial/state health plans and taxes 

 

Qualification or Skills:

Technical/Functional Skills
•    Advanced knowledge of employee benefits regulations, compliance practices, and reporting requirements applicable across the United States and Canada
•    Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, v lookups, data reconciliation) 
•    Experience with benefits platforms (BSwift or equivalent); SAP HRIS; benefits carrier/vendor portals
•    Strong skills in reporting, billing reconciliation, eligibility management, and documentation
•    Ability to interpret regulations and apply them to benefits operations
