Pipeline Batching Technician

Due to our ongoing organic growth, we are currently seeking a qualified permanent full-time Pipeline Batching Technician to join our Field Services team in Edmonton, Alberta. As a Pipeline Batching Technician, you will provide exceptional customer service, maintain a flexible work schedule, and use independent judgment and reasoning.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive Batching Operation assignments from the Pipeline Batching Supervisor/Lead;
  • Working closely with the Pipeline Batching Operation Supervisor/Lead regarding project specifications;
  • Participating in all pre-job safety meetings with the clients and contractors;
  • Performing site visits and briefings with the client’s onsite representative to clarify processes and procedures of launching and receiving the batching tools, tool tracking and marking procedures as well as any additional information unique to their specific project;
  • Launching and receiving batching tools in accordance to the project specifications;
  • Assessing tool condition and perform reconditioning as applicable;
  • Follow established Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and Department of Transportation policies;
  • Maintaining professional relationships with our clients;
  • Operate company vehicles in strict adherence to company policies;
  • Work under supplied air as necessary (H2S);
  • Daily housekeeping of vehicles, shop, and facility as required;
  • Attention to detail as it relates to completion of reports and documentation and be proactive to meet or exceed deadlines;
  • Other related duties as assigned (i.e. supporting other areas within the Field Operations Department based on business needs).

REQUIREMENTS

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:

  • Lift and move greater than 50 pounds and lift greater than 180 lbs. with help of one person;
  • Drive company truck long distances in or out-of-province/country to various job sites as required and in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations and procedures;
  • Work in external environment with extreme heat or cold temperatures;
  • Pass pre-employment Drug & Alcohol, criminal background check and Fit to Work Tests.

Qualification or Skills:

  • 1-3 years of field work experience or oil and gas industry experience is preferred;
  • Previous experience in the role of Pipeline Batching Technician within the Oil and Gas industry is an asset;
  • Mechanical aptitude or certification in a mechanical discipline preferred;
  • Candidate must currently reside in Edmonton or Sherwood Park;
  • Ability to work on a rotation of 14 days on and 4 days off;
  • Ability to safely operate truck and trailer for long durations at a time while travelling to local client sites within Alberta, typically returning home each day;
  • Ability to pass criminal background check as well as multiple pre-client site access required drug and alcohol tests;
  • Strong organization and time management skills, ability to adapt to frequently changing schedules and tight timelines;
  • Hold a valid class 5 Alberta Driver’s License (non-GDL) and clean Drivers Abstract is required;
  • Non-GDL class 5 Alberta Driver's license is required due to insurance reasonings for commercial drivers;
  • Ability to follow established Health, Safety and Environment and Department Of Transportation procedures;
  • Ability to travel out of town during shift rotation as required to client sites surrounding the Fort McMurray and Edmonton area;
  • Excellent customer relations skills;
  • Work independently, as well as in a team environment with minimum supervision;
  • Computer literate;
  • Superior verbal and written English communication skills;
  • Represent the company in a professional manner and maintain a positive attitude with clients and co-workers; 
  • Valid Canadian passport is required due to the potential of cross border business travel;
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
